What is a Chikn? 
 

There are only 10,000 Chikns, and every Chikn lays $EGGs. Chikns are the original component of the Chikn game, no new ones will ever be created. The $EGG laid by the Chikns is an important part of the Chiknverse, and has many uses. Owning one or more Chikns that produce $EGGs puts you in a very strong position.

All Chikns started off at 1kg in weight and laid 1 $EGG per day. However, since launch in November 2021, owners have been feeding their Chikns to make them grow and lay more $EGG. For every 1kg increase, a Chikn will lay 0.25 more $EGG per day. This means a 30kg Chikn will lay 7.25 $EGG per day.

 

Each Chikn is unique and is made up of 8 traits. These 8 traits are; body, head, neck, torso, feet, tail, background and border. Some traits are rare while others are more common. Your Chikn's traits will determine its total rarity score which will fall into one of the following categories; common, nice, rare, elite or legendary.

Technically, each Chikn is a NFT (non-fungible token) that exists on the Avalanche blockchain. Therefore, when you buy a Chikn it belongs to you and only you. It is assigned to your wallet and cannot be accessed by anyone else.

Feeding your Chikn

Chikns are fed using a game specific token called $FEED. You can buy it on the open market (on the TraderJoe exchange). Once all $FEED has been fed to the Chikns, their size will be fixed, they will no longer grow, and their $EGG production cannot increase. This is a clever aspect of the Chikn ecosystem because it has encouraged owners to grow their Chikns as quickly as possible before $FEED runs out. Once it does, the total daily $EGG supply will be fixed and will never change. This mechanism prevents an ever-increasing amount of $EGG being produced, meaning $EGG inflation remains under control.

Chikns of all sizes and rarity can be bought and sold on the secondary marketplace, so even after $FEED production ends, you can still purchase a big fat $EGG laying Chikn.

 

The $EGG produced by your Chikn can be converted into your favourite cryptocurrency. Or even better can be used within the Chikn game for; feeding and growing Roostrs, expanding FarmLand, or payment of Foraging fees.

In addition to laying $EGG, Chikns can also forage for resources within a FarmLand, and will soon be able to breed with Roostrs, enter Coq fights, and take part in various mini games within the Chiknverse.

To summarise, Chikns are an important part of the Chiknverse, they have a variety of uses, and are the only ones that lay $EGG.
